What are the options for a peaceful resolution to the on-going conflict in Afghanistan, and what actions should the new administration take to enhance the prospects of a sustainable settlement? The Afghanistan Study Group, a bipartisan team of experts and former policy makers convened by the United States Institute of Peace, has been tackling these questions at the request of the U.S. Congress for the past 10 months. On February 24, 2021, Michael Phelan, Director of the Afghanistn Study Group, will join the World Affairs Council of Maine for a discussion of the main findings of the report with Charles Norchi, Benjamin Thompson Professor of Law at the University of Maine Law School.
